"The kiss of the wind, the smell of the
rain, the colors of the rainbow made time stand still.
We leave this magical place, our spirits renewed, our sense of wonder
rekindled."
The Roach Family,
Dallas, Texas
This three bedroom log home presents dramatic views of the lake and La Plata Mountains from the house as well as the large deck. The feeling of spaciousness is enhanced by the 40 foot ceilings in the living room and the thrill of seeing an osprey in flight over the lake.

The library of poetry, art, philosophy, novels, essays and children's books
as well as games and magazines can be enjoyed from the cushioned interiors and decks. Fanciful furniture as well as lovely antiques add to the feeling that one has been transported to a magical peaceful haven.
Upstairs, the sitting room has TV with Direct Satellite receiver, radio, VCR,
VHS movie videos, DVD
player and full sound system. There are comfortable chairs and a couch for
reading. A charming desk offers opportunities for writing letters, manuscripts
or computer work. Each cabin has a private phone line. Wireless WI-FI reception is available in
many of the
rooms and on the deck. There is also a separate entrance to a private deck, which sits in the
tops of trees and looks at the lake. A full bath overlooking the mountains is
directly off this room.

A natural place, enhanced by an artist's eyes. Blue-white ice with a cattail fringe, Christmas cactus blossoms dried in a dish..." Peg · Colorado Springs, CO "An unbelievable setting and home. This spot allowed us to concentrate on each other. The art and furniture are amazing." Matt & Liz · Littleton, CO "What a gracious place to spend such a treasured time with our granddaughters." Eddie & Carol · Tyler, TX |
Scenes of the garden and lake grace a very bright and roomy kitchen. The results of one's play here can be savored in the dining room or on the large deck, both of which overlook the lake and mountains. On the deck you will probably have the company of hummingbirds, kingfishers, red-winged blackbirds, loons, red-tailed hawks, ducks of various varieties, eagles, osprey, herons, orioles and bluebirds [to name a few].
"Lovely, unusual place,
peaceful and off the beaten path. Verdict: Absolutely Tops!"
Julia & Terry · Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England
"P.S. I need the recipe for the lemon cake. Jeff ate almost all of it at one
time!"
Jeff & Anne · Houston, TX

The bedroom on the first floor has a double bed, stained glass windows,
views of lush gardens and a sitting room with a western porch and separate
entrance. Private, sunny and cozy all describe this room. There is a half-bath on the first floor.
The main bedroom upstairs is spectacular with a fabulous queen bed,
gorgeous old quilts on the wall and huge windows facing the lake, treetops, sky, mountains,
moon and stars. Cheerful plants add grace.
The upstairs "loft" bedroom has a double bed and a window facing out onto
more treetops and stars. Fanciful red curtains surround the double bed heaped
with soft pillows and lace; a scene perfect for reading, hiding, or for the
performance of children's plays.
A futon can be used on the deck or inside on the floor.
Lace curtains, satin quilts, ambient lighting, great views and the large
art collection add luxury to the exquisite interiors, without sacrificing
comfort or playfulness.
"Morning time it is a deep
blue lake and looks as if someone sprinkled a handful of sparkling diamonds from
the pure white clouds that look like cotton. This lively morning feels like
magic!"
Shelley (age 10) · Tucson, AZ
"Willowtail Springs brought me back to thoughts of innocence and childhood where
we could put the world on hold for a few spectacular moments and just simply be.
It was a birthday trip I shall recall with great joy for many years, a slice of
heaven on earth."
Andrea · Englewood, CO
"The warmth and comfort built into the Lakehouse and its appointments show the
touch of a practiced, delicate hand. The lake and its mountain backdrop provide
an inspiring vista and wrap this place and its fortunate guests in a blanket of
tranquility. We are tempted not to tell another soul of this place but it is
simply too sweet not to share."
